Dr. Maria Shifrin participates in out-of-network insurance.
Depending on your health insurance carrier, your psychotherapy services may be covered in full or part.
We encourage potential patients to check your coverage and ask the following:
Do you have mental health benefits?
If so, do you have in-network or out-of-network benefits?
If so, is there a deductible and has it been met by other medical services other than mental health?
How many sessions per year does your health insurance cover?
What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
Do you need approval from your primary physician?

Payment Options
We accept credit cards, Venmo®, PayPal®, and Zelle® for all individual and couples sessions paid weekly.
For any discounted monthly rates we only offer the discount when being paid by check.
Cancellation Policy
Once we reach a mutually agreed upon appointment time(s), it is expected that you will be present for your weekly appointments. All cancellations under 24 hours notice will be charged at the full fee. If I am able to reschedule our session, I will do so in order to avoid charging you a fee. Further, in order to maintain stability and continuity of care, I require that you do not cancel more than 4 sessions per calendar year (Jan 1-Dec 31). If you cancel more than 4, you will be charged our agreed upon session fee for those missed sessions. If there is an emergency and I have to cancel our session, you will not be charged. For couples, if we have a session scheduled and only one member of the couple presents for treatment, I will not be able to hold the session and it will count as a no-show or last minute cancellation.
Phone Consultation
An initial phone consultation is necessary for us to decide if we are a good fit to work together. I will ask you some questions about what prompted you to reach out to me at this particular time in your life and how I can be of help. It’s also a good time to discuss any of your concerns or particular requirements for a therapist. Ultimately the goal is to help you and I determine whether to schedule an initial in-person or video session.
